SGR’s Tom Wiseman is being recognized as an “Attorney of the Year” by the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, which operates the Georgia PATENTS program. Tom has stepped up and volunteered multiple times to handle patent cases through the program and this honor is a great testament to his commitment to pro bono and his willingness to give back to the community.
Georgia PATENTS provides pro bono assistance to solo inventors and small businesses, by matching them up with volunteer patent attorneys and patent agents to help them prepare and file patent applications at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This pro bono program cooperates with and receives funding from, the USPTO, under a program that was established by Congress under the America Invents Act (AIA) of 2011. The Georgia PATENTS program is administered by the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts and covers Georgia and South Carolina. Similar programs have been set up in most other states.
SGR is a founding sponsor of the Georgia PATENTS program.
