ATLANTA (August 13, 2018) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that partners Jay Schwartz, John Spillman, Tom Hong, and Julie Sebastian have been recognized as “IFLR100 Elite Dealmakers” and “Rising Stars” for 2018 in the inaugural IFLR1000 United States-Guide to USA’s Leading Financial & Corporate Firms. These SGR attorneys are four of only 20 practitioners in Georgia to be included in the first edition of the guide. Recognized for their work in mergers and acquisitions for Georgia, Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Spillman earned the “Highly Regarded” ranking while Mr. Hong and Ms. Sebastian earned the “Rising Star” ranking.

The IFLR1000 is the guide to the world's leading financial and corporate law firms and lawyers in more than 120 jurisdictions worldwide. The research is a continuous process with consideration of notable transactions and law firm news throughout the year. The main research project is Financial and Corporate, which incorporates the core practice areas of banking, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, project development, project finance, and restructuring and insolvency. Mr. Schwartz is a Partner in the Corporate Practice of SGR. In his practice, he has particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, finance, securities, commercial leasing and technology. Mr. Schwartz is also ranked by Chambers USA, has an AV® Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by Super Lawyers and in The Legal 500 U.S. Edition and Georgia Trend magazine’s Legal Elite.

Mr. Spillman is a Partner in SGR‘s Corporate Practice. He counsels clients on corporate and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, emerging company issues and international transactions. Mr. Spillman has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® and has an AV® Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Hong is a Partner in and head of SGR‘s Corporate Practice and serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He concentrates his practice on corporate, transactional and tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border tax structuring, joint ventures, emerging company issues, private placements, venture capital transactions and international business transactions. Mr. Hong has extensive experience with Hart-Scott-Rodino filings and related transactional antitrust issues. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star.

Ms. Sebastian is a Partner in the Corporate Practice of SGR. She has substantial experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. She has represented both publicly and privately held companies and has worked with companies in a wide range of industries, including construction, heavy metals manufacturing and technology.
