ATLANTA (June 7, 2022) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that Partner Anthony (Tony) Cochran has been selected as the winner of the State Bar of Georgia General Practice & Trial Law Section 2022 Tradition of Excellence Award in the Defense category. Mr. Cochran was officially recognized, along with the winners in three other categories, during the General Practice & Trial Law Section Tradition of Excellence Breakfast held on June 3 as part of the State Bar of Georgia’s annual meeting weekend.
Tony Cochran is a Partner in SGR’s Litigation Practice, with a focus in white collar law. During the 45 years he has been practicing law in Atlanta, Mr. Cochran has represented many individuals and businesses on a wide variety of complex matters. He has tried dozens of jury trials in many areas of the law (both civil and criminal, federal and state), bench trials, administrative and regulatory hearings, and medical peer review hearings at hospitals.
Mr. Cochran has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers and ranked in Chambers USA: Leading Lawyers for Business (Litigation White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations – Georgia). He is consistently listed as being one of the “Top 10 Attorneys” in Georgia by Super Lawyers and is listed in Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition, under Business Litigation. He is also listed annually in The Best Lawyers in America® (Criminal Law).
Recently, Mr. Cochran was honored for his lifetime of service to the Zaban Paradies Center, which assists homeless couples obtain housing and employment, where he served as former Chair, Director, and volunteer for more than 20 years. In 2020, he was recognized by the Daily Report as one of the Best Mentors in the publication’s Georgia Legal Awards.
Mr. Cochran regularly appears as a speaker at continuing legal education programs on a wide variety of topics.
