SGR Partner Michael Regan Appointed as Chair of the State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee of the New York City Bar Association

ATLANTA (May 8, 2017) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that Partner Michael Regan has been appointed as Chair of the State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, effective September 1, 2017.

Mr. Regan has served on the State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee for six years. His appointment as Chair by City Bar President John S. Kiernan is a reflection of his outstanding service to the State Courts Committee and the City Bar. As one of the more than 160 committees within the City Bar, the State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee addresses issues relating to the New York State Supreme Court, the Appellate Division, the Court of Claims and the Court of Appeals, and participates in the Judiciary Committee’s evaluation of candidates for these courts.

Michael Regan is a Partner in SGR’s New York Litigation Practice. He is an experienced commercial litigator and regularly represents clients in state and federal court and in arbitration. Mr. Regan handles business tort and contract cases, partnership disputes, commercial real estate and construction disputes, applications for injunctive relief arising out of restrictive covenants in employment agreements, and securities litigation matters. He has significant trial experience and, as a practitioner and former appellate clerk, has handled numerous appeals.

In addition to his membership with the City Bar, Mr. Regan is a member of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Following law school, Mr. Regan enjoyed a clerkship at the Connecticut Appellate Court in Hartford. He also earned an LL.M. degree in Banking, Corporate and Finance Law, with honors, from Fordham Law School.
