Richard “Rick” J. Kalinowski is an Associate in the Litigation Practice Group of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Richard Kalinowski represents design professionals, contractors, real estate owners and real estate developers in complex litigation. Mr. Kalinowski applies the expertise he developed while obtaining undergraduate degrees in civil and architectural engineering to his legal work.
Mr. Kalinowski is a former associate of a leading construction and built environment boutique law firm. He also is a former legal intern for the Port Authority of the New York & New Jersey Litigation Department where he worked on a number of matters including complex construction disputes. Before his career pivot from engineering to law, Mr. Kalinowski served as a consultant focusing on roadway, bridge and infrastructure design and construction. His work included designing and drafting construction plans and specifications for numerous infrastructure projects in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Kalinowski is an active member of the American Bar Association, Construction Litigation Committee and Forum on Construction Law. He was selected to Crain’s New York list of Rising Stars in Real Estate and to Super Lawyers 2021 Rising Stars in Construction Litigation list. New York Real Estate Journal recognized him on its Ones to Watch list.
Mr. Kalinowski received his J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both architectural engineering and civil engineering from Drexel University.
