James R. McCachren, III is a Partner in the Litigation Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. McCachren practices general civil litigation including complex commercial and business litigation and litigation involving real property, intellectual property, and trust and estate matters.
In addition to representing clients in a broad range of contract and business disputes, Mr. McCachren has extensive experience in real property litigation, including lease disputes, purchase and sale disputes, and a wide array of title and boundary disputes. Mr. McCachren also has experience litigating trademark and copyright infringement disputes, licensing agreement disputes, trademark opposition litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board as well as takedown claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. His practice also encompasses fiduciary litigation, including disputes involving estates and trusts, and advising fiduciaries to ensure compliance with their legal obligations.
Mr. McCachren is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. McCachren is also a member of the Florida Bar Association.
Mr. McCachren earned his B.S.B.A. (Finance), with high honors, in 1990 from the University of Florida. He received his J.D. degree, with honors, in 1993 from the University of Florida. During law school, Mr. McCachren was also the Management Editor of the Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy and the Student Articles Editor of the Florida Journal of International Law.
