Laura Jimenez Garcia is an Associate in the Litigation / Trial Practice Department of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Ms. Jimenez Garcia earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. She was the recipient of the Rajesh “Raj” Mehta Memorial Endowment for Family Justice and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund scholarship, which were awarded annually to students based on academic merit and community involvement.
While at the University of Georgia School of Law, Ms. Jimenez Garcia served as the Executive Managing Editor of Georgia Law Review, Vice President of the Hispanic and Latino Law Students Association, and Teaching Assistant—all of which demonstrate her passion for mentoring peers and contributing to the academic success of others.
Prior to joining SGR, Ms. Jimenez Garcia completed a judicial internship with the Honorable Steven D. Grimberg at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. While there, she gained valuable experience drafting judicial opinions and orders. Additionally, as student attorney at the Community Health Law Partnership Clinic, Gwinnett Legal Aid, and the DeKalb County Public Defender, she served clients in a variety of criminal and immigration-related matters.
Ms. Jimenez Garcia received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with minors in Chinese Language and Literature and Political Science from the University of Georgia magna cum laude. Originally from Colombia, Ms. Jimenez Garcia is fluent in Spanish and is passionate about bridging cultural and language gaps in the legal field.
