Meg Heyse is an Associate in the Construction, Litigation and Energy Practices of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Meg has experience drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts for clients, including those regarding the acquisition, development, construction, financing, ownership, and operation of energy projects and related assets, and those regarding general corporate matters.
Meg focuses her practice on energy law, with a specialization in energy transactions. She has negotiated contracts regarding solar, wind, nuclear, hydropower, geothermal, renewable natural gas, traditional natural gas, coal, and combined cycle generating facilities, as well as those regarding co-located and standalone energy storage facilities. She has also assisted clients in drafting and issuing pro forma agreements in connection with Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and evaluating corresponding bidder responses.
Meg earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she was a Dean’s Scholar and served as a Student Attorney in the Youth Opportunity Clinic. She earned her B.A. from the University of Virginia, where she majored in Leadership and Public Policy and minored in English.
• Represented a public utility, as owner, in entering into an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Agreement for a 400 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Nevada
• Represented a public utility, as seller, in entering into an Asset Purchase Agreement for assets in connection with a hydroelectric project in California
• Represented a public utility, as buyer, in entering into a Power Purchase Agreement for geothermal energy
• Represented a public utility, as owner, in entering into an Operations and Maintenance Agreement operating as a set of framework conditions for various biogas conversion facilities
• Represented an independent power producer, as customer, in entering into an Energy Management Agreement for gas turbine generating facilities located in the PJM market
• Represented an investment manager, as seller, in entering into an Agreement for Purchase and Transfer of Tax Credits in connection with a Texas battery storage project
• Represented a public utility, as purchaser, in entering into two Build Transfer Agreements for 190 MW and 400 MW wind-powered generating facilities in Wyoming
• Represented a public utility, as licensee, in entering into a Software Licensing Agreement for software services
