Malcolm D. Young, Jr. is a Partner in the Commercial Real Estate Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. Young represents developers, owners and managers of commercial real estate as well as owners and operators in the hospitality business. Over a number of years, he has worked on a myriad of different and complex real estate transactions involving development, leasing and sale of major industrial projects; purchase, operation, management and sale of fresh and salt water marinas; acquisition, sales, leasing and management of major office complexes and hospitality transactions involving sales, financing, development and operation of hotels and motels. Mr. Young frequently works on structuring and implementing real estate investments and investment vehicles for all types of commercial properties.
Mr. Young’s representative transactions include acquisition, leasing and sale of major office buildings in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Houston and other locations; sale and leaseback of major hotel chains including Staybridge Suites and Summerfield Suites; development of a portfolio of multifamily student housing projects, subsequent portfolio financing and the sale and leaseback of the entire portfolio; formation of joint venture investment funds to develop and/or acquire multifamily and hospitality assets; development and leasing of major industrial projects throughout the Atlanta area and acquisition, operation and leasing of major hotel properties such as Hyatt Regency hotels.
Mr. Young’s representative clients include Place Properties (Student Housing), Majestic Realty Co. (Industrial), Julian LeCraw and Company (Multifamily), The Sussex Corporation (Marina), The Edinburgh Fund (Hospitality) and The Pinnacle Group (Self Storage).
Mr. Young received his B.A. degree in Political Science from Trinity University in 1965. He earned his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University in 1968.
