Mark Turnbull is a Partner in the Corporate Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP and a member of the Firm’s Global Transport Practice.
Mark advises financial institutions, aircraft leasing companies, airlines, MROs and aviation industry participants on commercial and corporate aviation transactions including aircraft finance and leasing, asset acquisitions and disposals, regulatory matters and commercial contracts in the aviation sector.
With an emphasis on international transactions Mark has worked with airlines and leasing companies to finance, lease and deliver both wide body and narrow body commercial aircraft, engines and parts in multiple jurisdictions within North America, South America, Asia, Europe, and Australasia.
Mark’s practice is diverse and includes advising MROs and SME businesses on asset acquisition for part-out through to advising aircraft leasing companies and airlines on new aircraft acquisition and financing of multiple Boeing, Airbus and Embraer aircraft. In the commercial market, Mark regularly advises airlines and aircraft leasing companies on all aspects of their fleet management, including new aircraft deliveries, primarily through commercial debt and operating lease and sale & leaseback transactions, seasonal sub-leasing, ACMI, lease novations, engine maintenance contracts and general commercial contract advice relating to their business.
Mark advises financial institutions, leasing companies, individuals and family offices on financing and acquisition of corporate jets from shorter range aircraft to the ultra-long range aircraft and other assets, including yachts.
