Jerry Liu is a Technical Advisor in the Intellectual Property Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. Liu currently advises in the area of patent law. His background includes being a law firm partner as well as serving as in-house counsel for ARRIS (now CommScope) and as Director of Innovation and Patent Development for AT&T. He has extensive patent prosecution (procurement), litigation, and transactional expertise, and is an experienced patent developer and patent asset manager. He has also taught 30 classes since 2002 for Georgia Institute of Technology as a Lecturer, is a five-time high-tech startup entrepreneur, and is a named inventor on more than two dozen U.S. patents.
Mr. Liu graduated with honors with his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1999. He earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree in 1994 (with honor) from Georgia Institute of Technology and added an MS degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996, also from Georgia Institute of Technology.
