Coulter ‘Coby’ Henry Jr. is a Patent Attorney in the Intellectual Property practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
With over 24 years of experience in the field of intellectual property law, Mr. Henry is a seasoned and versatile attorney who has successfully represented and advised various clients, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. His core competencies include patent prosecution, portfolio management, licensing and sales, contract negotiation, litigation, and data privacy.
In former positions, he was responsible for preparing, managing, and prosecuting patent applications in the laundry arts, overseeing the enterprise patent portfolio, and delivering legal counsel on corporate and intellectual property issues. He has performed complex contract negotiations to purchase licensed or patented products, focusing on maximizing the enterprise revenue and minimizing the risks.
In addition, he has experience as a patent agent, a patent examiner, and an engineer, giving him insight into the technical and legal aspects of innovation.
Before joining SGR, Mr. Henry served as a lecturer and certified instructor at the Patent Institute of Training, where he taught and mentored aspiring patent practitioners on patent and trademark practice.
Mr. Henry earned his J.D, from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. He received his B.S. in electrical engineering from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina.
