Full Bio
Mr. Latman advises clients on aircraft equipment financing, leasing, acquisition and divesture, equipment financing and secured lending transactions. He has negotiated and drafted leases (leveraged and operating) on behalf of lessors and lessees and has documented and closed on hundreds of domestic and international asset-based financings. His clients include lenders, borrowers, equity participants, operators, lessors and lessees in asset-based financings, often representing them in cross-border transactions.
Aside from negotiating and closing aviation transactions at their inception phase, Mr. Latman is highly experienced in negotiating restructurings of equipment financing transactions both inside and outside of bankruptcy. Mr. Latman also represents clients on sophisticated financings and is well-versed on the varied financing structures of the U.S. Ex-Im Bank and on EETC structures.
He regularly counsels clients, including governments, operators and financiers, with respect to the “Cape Town Convention” and is a frequent author and lecturer on the topic and in 2015 was appointed to the Cape Town International Registry Advisory Board (IRAB).
Mr. Latman’s experience also includes general lending work on behalf of both lenders and borrowers. He advises general corporate clients as well as traditional and non-traditional lenders with respect to secured credit facilities and often counsels those clients on issues pertaining to Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (Secured Transactions).
Mr. Latman is a member of the American Bar Association: the Forum on Air and Space Law and serves on the Governing Committee. He has also served as the chair and vice chair of the ABA’s Aircraft Finance Subcommittee. Mr. Latman is now the Chair of the newly formed Aviation and Space Finance Committee of the ABA’s Forum on Air and Space Law. Mr. Latman is also a member of the National Advisory Board of Youth About Business, a national organization that introduces underserved high school students to the world of business through educational programs and “business school” camps.
